My Approach to Helping
I would like to support you on your journey of self-discovery by building an empathic, positive, respectful therapeutic relationship that promotes self-care, healing, and self-awareness. I strongly believe in a collaborative approach and one's right to self-determination. I encourage you to explore opportunities for change and growth in your circumstances and thinking, so you can empower yourself to face life's challenges and to bring about positive change. "Being positive does not mean ignoring the negative...Being positive means overcoming the negative." The journey is not always easy, but it can transform your life and you are worth it!
More Info About My Practice
No approach can work for everyone, so I tailor therapy to each client's needs. I use an eclectic mix of mindfulness-based cognitive therapy (MBCT), cognitive-behavioral therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, humanistic psychology, client-centered therapy, trauma-focused therapy, psychodynamic psychotherapy, crisis intervention, couples therapy, relational therapy, and psychoeducation.
I am also knowledgeable about psychopharmacology, and can coordinate treatment strategies with medication management by a psychiatrist. I have research and clinical experience in evidence-based practices. I have treated a range of mental health issues, including attachment and self-esteem concerns.
