My Approach to Helping

As a therapist, I provide a warm, nonjudgmental environment where you can dive into your story and deepen your self-understanding. We will gently explore your experience to identify areas of strength that you are already utilizing, and areas where you can grow. We will work to enrich your understanding and augment your toolbox to cope with life's inevitable challenges. My hope is that this process provides greater compassion for yourself and others and a deeper sense of joy and meaning in your life.

More Info About My Practice

I am an alumnus of The Wright Institute in Berkeley as well as Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee. I am a Marriage & Family Therapy Intern at the Marina Counseling Center in San Francisco, where I offer sliding scale therapy sessions for individuals and couples. Prior to pursuing my Masters, I worked 7+ years in the corporate world.

My respect and appreciation for therapy come from my own experience as a client, trying to learn from the trials and tribulations life has thrown my way. Investing in the challenging, exhilarating work as a therapy client has been the greatest gift I've given myself, and I would love to share the power of the process with you.

I work with individual adults and youth as well as couples. I also specialize in working with couples that are preparing for a more serious commitment and who desire the tools to build a healthy foundation. I offer sessions for couples as well as a premarital workshop for those that wish to meet and learn from other couples.

How Psychotherapy Can Help

Therapy is a place to deepen your connection to your internal voice and make sense of your world. Maybe you can't seem to break free of frustrating patterns, or you are weathering one of life's inevitable challenges and desire support. Or you simply want to understand yourself better and need a warm, nonjudgmental environment to explore and question and grow. Whatever your reasons, investing in yourself via therapy is a brave and rewarding decision.

In therapy, you can create deeper self-awareness and move forward in your life with greater intention. By adopting a gentle, curious perspective, we will gain greater understanding of what is driving your behavior and choices, and identify resources that are already within you. Many are looking for a quick fix, but it is the process of introspection that offers the transformation and healing.

The Duration and Frequency of Therapy

The length of our work together will differ for each person. My goal is for therapy to be as brief as possible, however the length can sometimes depend on the problem we are working with and your commitment to the process. Because a positive working relationship between the client and therapist is crucial to long-term success, I initially recommend coming in for at least 4 sessions to explore and define our goals. Most clients continue for 6 months or longer.

Generally, we meet for 50 minutes once a week. Therapy is a commitment you make to yourself so the consistency and frequency are important for building a strong foundation.
