Psychotherapy is about change and self-awareness. I am a modern psychoanalytically trained psychotherapist, who will work with you to maximize your ability to meet personal life goals, enhance your relationships, and to grow emotionally. My approach is based on understanding and addressing one's past experiences, current situation and future goals. I work with pre-teens, teens, adults and couples who suffer from a very broad range of situations, including relationships, life transitions, sexuality, affairs, divorce, career change, relocation, school and work, as well as mood, executive functioning, self-esteem and anxiety. I would welcome the opportunity to discuss your situation and needs.
Trained at Smith College and The Baltimore Washington Institute for Psychoanalysis, I was a clinician and faculty at Johns Hopkins University, The University of Maryland, The Baltimore Washington Institute for Psychoanalysis and Maryland Institute College of Art. Before graduate school I studied poetry, literary theory and Materialist Feminism. In Peace Corps I taught and developed small businesses.
Recently, I relocated my private practice to Asheville, meeting one more personal goal of my own. In your very first session, you will gain a greater understanding of your situation and how you will progress in our work together. Please call me to schedule a consultation or with any questions that you have.
