Are you feeling scared, anxious, and overwhelmed by self-hatred, obsessive thoughts about food, weight, calories, and exercise? Do you feel sad and depressed because you keep telling yourself "this is the last time" only to find yourself saying the same thing the very next day? It's time to stop obsessing and to start living freely again. It can feel like a vicious cycle, but there comes a time when you can't stand another moment and something needs to change--right now. For many people it's hard to know where to turn when seeking help for an eating disorder. They want to find someone who understands them, someone who has advanced training and experience. Someone they can trust.

If you are a parent and suspect that your child has a problem with food (either eating large quantities in a short period of time or not eating at all), or you just have an uneasy feeling about your teen, I can help you figure out what's happening. Research evidence shows that Family Based Therapy is the most successful form of treatment for adolescents suffering from an eating disorder. Or, if you are an adult seeking help for yourself, you deserve to stop obsessing and feel better. I know that images of the "perfect body" are everywhere and that you can't escape feeling bombarded by magazines, talk shows, radio ads, billboards or social media discussing and advertising the latest diet. Everywhere you go you find yourself comparing your body to someone else's and think to yourself, "If I can just get skinny enough, people will like me more"." Sound familiar? If you answered yes, it's time to feel better - right now.

Eating Disorders are serious and can be life threatening if left untreated. Treatment requires professional team collaboration in order to address the intricacies and seriousness of such disorders. I believe in a Whole person approach to treating anorexia and bulimia that incorporates the mind, body, and spirit using the latest evidenced based treatment methods combined with traditional psychodynamic theory. I collaborate closely with psychiatrists and nutritionists who know the specialized needs of people battling an eating disorder.

While there are many committed and talented therapists in Southern California, there are few who truly understand the complexity of eating disorders. As one of the few eating disorder therapists in the eastern San Gabriel Valley and Inland Empire, I am here to help bring a healthy balance back to your life. If you or someone that you care about is struggling with food and you, simply can't do THIS any more, call or email for a free consultation. Whether you or your loved one has had formal eating disorder treatment before or this is your very first step, we will work together to create a plan that is unique and specific to you. I want to help you to feel better about yourself from the inside out. I want you to feel good about your body, mind, and soul. I want you to like yourself and feel confident about the person you are on the inside too--not just your physical body. Call or email me for a consultation.

More Info About My Practice

I generally will provide a free brief phone consultation to find out a little bit about why you are seeking therapy and to determine if it makes sense for us to meet in person, or if it seems you would be better served by another therapist who could better meet your needs.

There are pluses and minuses to using mental health benefits. While I currently do not participate on insurance panels, if you choose to use your insurance, I will provide a receipt that can be submitted to your insurance for reimbursement if your policy allows. Clients are responsible for verifying their policy with their insurance carrier to determine if reimbursement is part of the policy.
