I work with children, adolescents, and families to help them with both individual and family systems issues. I work from a strengths based wellness model of person centered therapy, and offer empathy, validation, and unconditional positive regard. I believe that we all have the potential for change, and to be our best selves, if given a safe and positive space to grow and explore. I give those I work with the tools necessary to cope with life's challenges.
I use Cognitive-Behavioral therapies to teach clients how to identify distorted thinking that can help to overcome emotional discomfort, as well as helping clients set goals and analyze behaviors that contribute to current discomfort or dissatisfaction. I like to stay solutions focused in work with clients, helping them to identify their own strengths and abilities, and to facilitate my clients being able to solve their own problems with greater confidence in the future.
I have extensive experience working with child, adolescent, and adult trauma survivors (sexual abuse, physical abuse, emotional abuse neglect, abandonment, car wreck, natural disaster) as well as those with anxiety, depression, grief & loss, divorce, child and adolescent issues, self-esteem issues, foster care and adoption.
I use play therapy with children under the age of 10 to facilitate behavioral changes and emotional healing and have specialized training in Trauma Focused-Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Parent Child Interaction Therapy.
