My Approach to Helping

My background includes advanced training in Trauma, Anxiety, Sexual Disorders and Depression. I'm a Licensed Psychotherapist and Certified Sex Therapist in private practice located in Brentwood. I would truly love to listen your story and be available to help you. Two people's experiences are never quite the same and whether the issue is behavioral, emotional or simply life situations, I'm ready to walk with you along that path. Feel free to email me or give me a call regarding any questions you might have.

Specific Issue(s) I'm Skilled at Helping With

For Male issues I can collaborate with a Urologist or Primary Care Physician when addressing Erectile Dysfunction, Premature Ejaculation and Delayed Ejaculation. I'm also trained in treating Geriatric Sexual Concerns. I treat a wide range of issues correlated with Trauma including: PTSD, Depression, Sexual Pain, Aversion, Guilt, Panic Attacks and other Anxiety spectrum symptoms.

My Therapy Focus

Many Psychotherapy techniques are used when addressing intimacy, communication, conflicts, etc. with couples, extended relationships andor families. All of these factors (when not addressed) can have a detrimental effect on sexual functioning andor desire. Anxiety and Depression, as well as Sexual AbuseTrauma, can also impact many facets of a person's sexual functioning andor desire. These areas are all addressed and treated with evidenced based Psychotherapy techniques. I am certified in TF-CBT. I prefer this method with child because it uses evidenced based Play Therapy techniques and tends to be less invasive. Anxiety & Depression combined has recently been presented by some clinicians to be its own "animal" operating on a continuum and requiring specific interventions. Suffering from both Anxiety and Depression can be extremely debilitating to one's mental and physical health. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) has good evidenced based outcomes for treating AnxietyDepression combined.

What I Say to People Concerned about the Therapy Process

Sex Therapy: I understand these are often delicate matters. I provide a safe, respectable atmosphere for individuals, couples, extended relationships andor families of any orientation to discuss these concerns. Many issues can surface including Arousal, Desire, Orgasm, Intimacy and Pain concerns. A lot of these issues are complex and I work with an interdisciplinary team (Nurse Practitioner, Gynecologist or Urologist specializing in sexual disordersmedicine as well as a Pelvic Floor Therapist) whenever appropriate to address sexual pain concerns including Dyspareunia, Generalized Vulvodynia, High Tone Pelvic Floor Dysfunction, Vaginismus, Interstitial CystitisPainful Bladder Syndrome and Chronic Pelvic Pain. I can also collaborate with a Urologist or Physician's Assistant with experience in sexual medicine andor Primary Care Physician when helping address Erectile Dysfunction, Premature Ejaculation and Delayed Ejaculation concerns. I'm also trained in treating Geriatric Sexual Concerns.
