Seeking help to manage anxiety, stress, and mood issues can be immensely difficult. Our culture tells us to be strong and self-sufficient. My work has helped me realize that learning about our situation can help us build resilience, allowing us to make changes that produce better outcomes. I enjoy supporting the courageous individuals who take the leap to begin exploring their lives through counseling.
My experience is diverse. I've spent the past four years working with individuals who experience mood disorders, schizophrenia, and impairments in their sense of self or personality. I've studied and worked with anxiety and mood issues, and bipolar. In graduate school, I worked with children who faced emotional and behavioral issues.
I practice psychotherapy in a very integrative fashion, allowing us access to a wide range of strategies. Ultimately the goal is find the type of therapy "style" that speaks to you as an individual. Collaboration is a big value of mine, which means we determine the course of counseling as a team. Naturally this is subject to change over the course of counseling, as we change as humans through the course of development. We can work on short-term basis to mobilize resources or explore things more in-depth, depending on preference and motivation. I look forward to connecting with you or your loved one.

My View on the Nature of 'Disorders'
In therapy, as one works through their own imbalances, tensions and vulnerabilities, I find it helpful to view mental functioning on a continuum. We all have situations in which we feel competent and skilled, and others in which we don't. Therapy provides space to experience both vulnerability and confidence, both doubt and hope, simultaneously. For many, life seems great when stress levels are low. However, when faced with change, transition or other adjustment(s), the dominoes begin to fall. It can come by storm with little warning, leaving one wondering, " what happened?".
For this reason, I believe it is helpful to look at all possible factors. Our lives are complex and with an open mind, I am confident we can learn more about your situation. As a therapist, I am more concerned with your story and how you came to be, than I am your "diagnosis". Identifying impairments is part of things, but merely a small piece. Therapy is a vehicle in which to build skills and abilities, and learn more about one's self. I'd consider it a privilege to join you on that journey.
