My approach with clients is non-judgmental and collaborative as I strive to create the type of working relationship that I would want to have with my own therapist. I work with individuals, couples, and families to create the changes that they deem to be important in their lives and relationships. Using a blend of traditional "talk therapy" and creative experiential activities, I help my clients develop new ways to handle the old patterns that are no longer working. I use Gottman Method Couples Therapy to help couples to reconnect, emotionally and physically, by improving their communication and strengthening their friendship.

In order to see different results, we must make different choices, try out new approaches, and sometimes shift our view of the situation. This is how therapy can help--providing a safe space for you to process through your individual situation, gain some new perspective, and practice new skills. I believe that every person has the ability to make the changes that are most important to their lives. Sometimes, we just need some support along the way, in order to begin living the lives we imagine.

Specific Issue(s) I'm Skilled at Helping With

Helping those affected by Autism has been a professional priority and passion since 2007. I have experience working with children and teens (and their families) who benefit from increased structure, emotional regulation, and improved communication skills. Sometimes a couple comes to therapy after realizing that the challenges within their relationship are related to one partner's Autism diagnosis.

I combine professional training and personal experience with ADHD to provide empathetic and practical support to my clients who are affected by ADHD. Oftentimes, the focus is on the child or teen who struggles with ADHD, without giving thought to what happens when that kid grows up and begins a career and family. I also specialize in working with the "non-ADHD" partner to overcome the challenges that are unique to being in an intimate relationship with someone diagnosed with ADHD.

As a member of the LGBT community, I have a special interest in working with other members of our community.
