My Approach to Helping
I am an Attachment Theory based psychotherapist who believes that our earliest experiences and primary relationships impact us in deep ways that follow throughout our lifetime.
I also draw heavily from Psychodynamic Theory, which focuses on self-examination of our greatest blocks, themes, and beliefs of life, sometimes from the unconscious parts of our minds.
I would consider myself a "process" therapist; this means that my focus is not to change you. Instead, my focus is to help you deeply connect with yourself and change patterns in yourself.
My work is highly relational. It is not only important that I to listen to you, but also that I interact with you and your emotions throughout each session.
My hope is to create an environment in each session where safe, secure, open communication and connection can be fostered.
Together we will pay close attention to the invaluable information that your emotions, patterns, attachments, and traumas provide.
Throughout the therapy experience you should expect to learn how to integrate new awareness of yourself and the patterns in your life and build upon your connection with your inherently valuable self.
COUPLES WORK:
Of course, you wish to be genuinely and compassionately connected to and supported by your partner, but sharing your life with another person has its way of bringing unique roadblocks to every relationship.
In EFT based couples work we identify the cycles or "patterns" at play that stand in the way of better communication, aligned goals, and closer connection.
We will also focus on any unique blocks or other obstacles that may also be a part of the struggle in your relationship. These can be things like parenting, sex and intimacy, infidelity, and more.
