My Approach to Helping
I am a process therapist; this means that I do not focus on changing you (or your partner). Instead, my focus is to help you deeply connect with yourself and change patterns.
In individual therapy this looks like integrating new awareness around and working towards changing the patterns in your life that block your connection with your inherently valuable self.
In couples counseling we focus on changing the patterns in your relationship that interfere with receiving the message of understanding, love, and security from your partner that you wish for. Of course you wish to be genuinely and compassionately connected to and supported by your partner, but sharing your life with another person has had its way of bringing unique roadblocks to each relationship. In couples counseling you and your partner will learn how to identify disruptive patterns and rebuild the road that leads towards a peaceful and fulfilling connection.
I aim to create an environment in each session where safe, secure, open communication and connection can be fostered. My work is highly relational. It is not only important for me to listen to you, but also that I interact with you and your emotions throughout each session.
Together we will pay close attention to the invaluable information that your emotions, patterns, attachments, and traumas provide. Sometimes we will also talk about the subconscious mind and it's influence or blocks towards awareness of self or ability to make change in your life.
