What's My Approach to Therapy?
Does life feel like you are stuck on merry-go-round with no way off? Arguing constantly with partner, dealing with an infidelity, or healing from family conflict are exhausting. Excessive worry, repetitive feelings of sadness or loneliness can feel heavy. Tension and stress in a relationship can cause resentment. Emotional wounds from trauma can take a while to heal. Healing and growth happen in an environment that nurtures exploration, growth, and compassion. I find ways to empower my clients by helping them see their truths, build upon their strengths, and learning how to deal with irrational thoughts that keeps them spinning out of control.
Whether you are seeking individual or couples counseling, I can help!
My style is based on the three C’s: Care, Compassion, and Collaboration. Together we will balance out areas of life to create quality self-care time. Will explore perceptions, opportunities, and values. Struggling Couples learn communication, conflict resolution skills. We will rebuild trust to increase emotional intimacy, which leads to relational happiness.
Fixing communication is not impossible. I will provide specific tools, such as taking timeouts, learning how to state needs and emotions assertively, and how to compromise to create a shared solution where both partners feel heard and understood. I use tools from the Gottman Institute, Prepare and Enrich, and my own communication patterns that I've developed working with couples in my practice.
Dealing with anxiety, grief, depression, or a life transition can be difficult. We work together to find the right tools to reduce feelings of sadness, worry, lack of pleasure, or frustrations related to work. This is done through active listening, learning to see positives, building on strengths, healing emotional ruptures, and learning new coping tools. Individuals find new ways to build paths that create joy and freedom in their life.
Specializations include anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, mood disorders, marriage counseling, couples counseling, pre-marital counseling, overcoming infidelity, and support for life transitions, such retirement, divorce, separation, or recovery from a major illness. I look for ways to strengthen and promote the welfare of my clients.

How Psychotherapy Can Help
When you are spinning around and around and don't know how to get off the merry-go-round a trained therapist can help. Its hard to ask a family member or friends to listen empathetically and non-judgmentally to your concerns. These thoughts can continue to spiral when there is no one you can talk with who will understand. Psychotherapy provides an opportunity to discuss any and all concerns free of worry and learn new tools to combat the irrational thoughts causing the spinning.
What I Love about Being a Psychotherapist
The ability to help others find and fulfill their dreams. I became interested in human behavior after taking several psychology courses my senior year of high school. I went into the business world and spent 23 years in corporate America. I watched couples struggling balancing careers, family, and relationships. I experienced first hand the hardships of being downsized, twice in one year, due to a poor economy. In 2013, I decided to follow my passion and become a professional counselor. Now I get to learn so much from clients as well as helping other follow their passions.
The Duration and Frequency of Therapy
The duration and frequency of therapy depends on the nature of the mental health concern. Many clients need to work out a few specific concerns and may complete treatment in few sessions, while others have many concerns and may need long term therapy. Some client prefer to come weekly while others need to space out the appointments. Together we will set the plan and frequency level based on your comfortability.
Premarital Counseling is usually between 6-10 sessions.
