My Approach to Helping

I am a licensed marriage and family therapist in South Minneapolis, with over 20 years of experience in the mental health field. I provide counseling services to older adolescents, adults, couples, and families who are experiencing challenges such as divorce, the death of a loved one, attachment issues, grief and loss, developmental trauma, emotional trauma, relationship issues, and other major life transitions. I offer insightful, supportive, and compassionate care to help men, women, and youths harness their inner strengths, overcome personal hardships, heal, and grow.

I received clinical training at the Holy Names University in Oakland, California, as well as the University of California, Berkeley. In addition to relationship and marriage therapy, I offer treatment approaches such as art therapy, eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), hypnotherapy, brainspotting, and body-centered therapies such as psychomotor therapy, somatic transformation, and the Hakomi Method. I also have extensive personal and professional experience in dream work, Jungian analysis, and shamanic work.
My counseling style is warm, person-centered, and direct. As a result, I work very well with individuals who may be highly sensitive. I also offer women workshops, private real-time coaching for couples, and intensive 4-hour couples workshops with the assistance of my husband. My private practice is located in South Minneapolis, however I also offer mental health services in Plymouth on occasion.

More Info About My Practice

I have much experience in helping couples, family members and individuals practice the art of authentic emotional intimacy, including feeling and making connection with self and other from the intention of curiosity, and non-defensive empathic understanding.

Living and loving well is rewarding and also sometimes painful and chaotic. We all need help at times to focus and to integrate life changes, and to calm our nervous systems and emotions to facilitate opening to awareness, curiosity, creativity and intention to guide us in changing and updating old patterns, helping us to take heart so we can make make conscious changes as needed for growth and evolution in our life.
