My Approach to Helping

Parents! I specialize in working with young men struggling to gain control of their behaviors and live to their full potential. My clients often have difficulties with behaviors like lying, substance abuse, aggression, self-harm, issues at school, relationship issues, technology addiction, and many others. Their parents and family members feel exhausted by the disruption caused by these behaviors. Conflicts have formed between the teen acting out and other family members are who being negatively impacted. Before long it seems like everything has spiraled out of control and the situation is beyond repair.

If this describes your current family situation, I can help! I believe that young men deserve the opportunity to gain understanding, exercise control over their behaviors, and thrive. As your son learns how to escape the cycle of negative behaviors your family will experience peace again. As the parent, you can relax in the contentment of knowing that your son is working to achieve his full potential.

I have nearly 20 years of experience working with youth as an elementary school teacher, soccer coach, mentor, and counselor in both residential and private practice settings. I can make a difference in the lives of your son and family. Give me a call or email today to arrange a complimentary initial consultation.

What I Love about Being a Psychotherapist

As a therapist, I love to help clients understand the connection between their self-defeating behaviors and feelings. Men, in particular, are often raised with the belief that expressing difficult or painful emotions makes them appear weak. In some situations, it is not desirable for men to share vulnerable thoughts and feelings BUT completely avoiding painful feelings usually results in more crappy feelings and problems. When men learn to acknowledge their difficult feelings and take action to resolve them, they are typically able to gain control of their behavior and improve their lives. I enjoy teaching male clients how to combine logic and emotions in a way that makes them feel powerful and in control of their behaviors.
