My Approach to Helping
Have you noticed yourself feeling "off"? Has anxiety been seeping into everyday life? Has your child's behavior started to escalate daily? Therapy is often sought in difficult times. It can feel overwhelming and vulnerable. I am here for you at that time. Together we will work to create a safe and supportive space, where growth can happen and goals can be achieved.
Specific Issue(s) I'm Skilled at Helping With
I enjoy working with families who are going through life transitions or experiencing conflict. I am passionate about play therapy and believe that play is the most effective way for young children (and some older children) to communicate. I have worked with families who have experienced various traumas (abuse, sudden loss, reunification following a disruption of placement) and assisted them in processing their experiences and coming to a point of acceptance.
Had a Negative Therapy Experience?
As a consumer of therapy myself, I know that finding that right "fit" in your therapy is very important. Often times, when we don't have the right therapist, our experience in therapy is negative. I want you to have the right therapist, and if I am not it, I will provide you with referrals to trusted therapists in our community.
The Duration and Frequency of Therapy
Each person and family is different, therefore duration and frequency of services varies. Most of the time it is recommended to meet weekly, and as progress is seen, start to meet bi-weekly or monthly. Progress may happen slowly when sessions are attended infrequently.
