My Approach to Helping
I have worked extensively with adults struggling with chronic anxiety, depression, relationship problems and self-esteem issues, among others. I take a client-centered perspective and use different therapies to suit each client's needs. It's not always about the specific theory of therapy used in counseling but more about what can I do to assist the client in achieving the perspective, growth, and success that they desire. I want to help clients grow in the ways they choose and "walk with the client" as they process, grow and change.
More Info About My Practice
Anxiety can feel frustrating, limiting, and exhausting. Depression, relationship problems, and stress can contribute to anxiety and vice versa. Communication problems within relationships can be frustrating and detrimental. My main goal in therapy is to provide a safe space and a level of comfort where the client feels understood, accepted and safe.
Had a Negative Therapy Experience?
Therapy is a personal and emotional experience. Therapists differ in their education, backgrounds, and beliefs. Sometimes client and therapist do not mesh well, and that's okay. Having a negative therapy experience can be frustrating and demoralizing. I am open to all clients no matter their background, experience, education, etc. My goal in therapy is to assist the client to realize their goals and ultimately become the person they wish to be. I believe the client is the expert in their life and strive to walk with the client as they process, grow and change.
