My Approach to Helping

We are living in unique and difficult times right now due to the many changes resulting from the Pandemic. I want to help you overcome whatever issues and problems that you are currently dealing with in your life. I am here to help and to listen. I work with people who have Anxiety, Depression, PTSD, Trauma, and Grief (from 6 years old to adults). I'm trained in EMDR which is a good therapy for all of the conditions mentioned above.

More Info About My Practice

I am doing appointments in the office, or online with Telehealth, whichever you prefer. I offer morning, afternoon, and evening appointments. I can find a time that will work for your busy schedule. I accept payment from insurance companies, cash or check. I have a couple sliding fee spots open for people who have no insurance and are concerned with the cost of counseling. I can do consultations and appointments within three business days.

Specific Issue(s) I'm Skilled at Helping With

I've been working in the area of Grief and Loss for over 25 years, after the loss of a family member to Suicide. I also lost two close family members to cancer. I've struggled to work through my loss issues, so I feel I have a good perspective on how to help others walk their journey through Grief. My roles as a Counselor and a Life Coach share similar goals; helping people to have the best life possible.

My Role as a Therapist

Prior to launching my own licensed practice, I served as an educator for over 27 years, working in the public school system with elementary age students. I facilitated Grief and Loss groups for over 25 years, working with people to help them cope with the loss of a loved one, and enable them to move on with their life. I am a Former Foster Parent and Adoptive Parent, who provided a loving, secure home to children in need for over eight years.
I am Founder and Chair of The Rose Fund, a non-profit (under the Battle Creek Community Foundation), providing necessary needs to students in area schools.

Each of these experiences helped me learn new things and grow, while also increasing my empathy for people from all walks of life.
