My Approach to Helping

Hello and welcome. Thank you for looking at my profile. I’ve been a licensed psychologist for over 33 years. I offer psychotherapy for adults, couples, families, and teens. I believe that each one of us already has the skills and resources necessary to live our lives effectively but we may have difficulty trusting our judgement and realizing our potential. We often know what is right but don't know how to act on that knowledge. My job, as a therapist, is to help you access your own strength and wisdom.

I use well-researched treatment methods (such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Family Focused Therapy) in an ethical and compassionate framework. I believe that change occurs only when therapists develop a caring therapeutic relationship with their clients and my focus is on helping individuals, couples, and families make significant change in their lives.

More Info About My Practice

I am a full-time Professor in the Clinical Psychology PhD program at Alliant International University and my treatment is research based. I completed my PhD working with Dr. Steven Hayes, the developer of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and completed an NIMH fellowship at UCLA working with Dr. David Miklowitz, the developer of family-focused treatment (FFT) for depression and bipolar disorder.
