My Approach to Helping
Asking for help can be hard. It takes more courage to acknowledge that there's a problem than it takes to hide your true feelings or pretend they're not there, so good for you for taking this first step!
Are you having trouble getting through the day? Do you want to feel better, more connected to others, or more in control of your life? Would you like to have a better understanding of why you think, act, and feel certain ways? Then contact me today so we can set up a time to talk briefly over the phone, free of charge, to discuss what you're looking for and how I might be able to help.
I approach therapy from a strengths perspective, meaning that I believe you already have the inner resources to learn to cope with whatever may be bringing you in, and our work needs to tap into these in order to be successful. You are the expert on you, and I see my role as one of a supporter, educator, observer, and interpreter.
One size does not fit all, particularly when it comes to psychotherapy. I use what's called an "integrative" approach, meaning that I use therapeutic techniques from different schools of thought. This gives us the flexibility to tailor our work to meet your individual needs.
