My Approach to Therapy

Welcome. I believe that meaningful change begins with a strong therapeutic relationship built on trust, authenticity, and collaboration. My goal is to create a warm, supportive, and nonjudgmental space where you can feel comfortable exploring your thoughts, emotions, and experiences without fear of criticism. Together, we'll work to better understand the patterns that may be keeping you stuck, build on your existing strengths, and develop practical strategies to help you move toward a more fulfilling life. My approach is integrative and tailored to each individual's unique needs. Drawing from cognitive-behavioral, dialectical, relational, and other evidence-based approaches, I adapt therapy to fit your goals rather than relying on a one-size-fits-all model. Whether you're navigating anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, identity development, life transitions, or the stresses of everyday life, I strive to provide therapy that is compassionate, insightful, and grounded in practical change. I have particular expertise in working with postpartum mood and anxiety disorders and completed advanced training in perinatal mental health through Postpartum Support International. I have extensive experience supporting college students, graduate students, and young professionals through my years working in university counseling centers. I also provide LGBTQ+ affirming care, creating a welcoming and inclusive space where clients can explore issues related to identity, relationships, and life transitions with authenticity and support. Above all, I value creating a therapeutic experience where you feel understood, respected, and empowered to make lasting change.

My Practice & Services

I offer a complimentary 15-minute phone consultation to learn more about what brings you to therapy, answer your questions, and help determine whether we're a good fit to work together. Choosing a therapist is an important decision, and I welcome the opportunity to discuss how I might support you. Appointments are available on weekdays from morning through early evening to accommodate a variety of schedules. I currently provide secure, HIPAA-compliant telehealth services, allowing you to access therapy from the comfort and privacy of your own space. I am licensed to work with clients located in New York and authorized to provide teletherapy to clients in all participating PsyPact states.

Specific Issue(s) I'm Skilled at Helping With

I work with adults facing a wide range of concerns, including anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, life transitions, self-esteem, identity development, and stress related to work or school. I also have specialized expertise in supporting individuals experiencing pregnancy, postpartum, and other perinatal mental health concerns. As an LGBTQ+ affirming psychologist, I provide a welcoming and inclusive space for clients exploring issues related to sexual orientation, gender identity, relationships, and the unique challenges of navigating a world that can sometimes feel invalidating or overwhelming. Whatever brings you to therapy, my goal is to help you gain insight, develop effective coping strategies, and create meaningful, lasting change.

My Role as a Therapist

As your therapist, my role is to provide a supportive, compassionate, and collaborative space where you feel heard, understood, and accepted. Together, we'll explore the thoughts, emotions, and experiences that have shaped your life, identify patterns that may be keeping you stuck, and develop practical tools to help you navigate challenges more effectively. Rather than telling you what to do, I see therapy as a partnership. I will bring clinical expertise, thoughtful guidance, and evidence-based strategies, while honoring you as the expert on your own life. My goal is to help you build insight, strengthen resilience, and develop the confidence and skills to create meaningful, lasting change—both in therapy and beyond.

My Guiding Ethical Principles

My work is guided by a deep respect for each person's dignity, autonomy, and lived experience. I believe therapy is most effective when it is grounded in trust, compassion, cultural humility, and genuine collaboration. I am committed to providing care that is ethical, evidence-based, and affirming, while creating an environment where clients feel safe, respected, and empowered to be their authentic selves. My goal is to meet each individual with curiosity rather than judgment and to honor the unique strengths, values, and experiences they bring to therapy.

The Duration and Frequency of Therapy

Therapy is not one-size-fits-all, and the length and frequency of treatment depend on your individual needs, goals, and circumstances. Many clients begin by meeting weekly, which provides the consistency needed to build momentum and establish a strong therapeutic relationship. As progress is made, sessions may become less frequent based on your goals and preferences. Some individuals seek therapy to address a specific concern over a shorter period of time, while others value longer-term work focused on deeper personal growth and lasting change. We will regularly discuss your progress and collaborate on a plan that feels most supportive and effective for you.
