My Approach to Helping

I believe that you are stronger than you think you are, and I would love to help you re-discover your inner strength. I also believe that your choice to pursue therapy speaks to your strength and to your desire to grow and change. If you are sensitive and empathetic, or you prioritize the needs of others over your own, perhaps you don't always feel so strong. Instead, your sensitivity might contribute to feelings of anxiety, overwhelm, or self-doubt. Perhaps you have forgotten how to trust yourself or to know what you want in life. I know this struggle well, and I enjoy using mindfulness and mind-body techniques to help clients tune back into their own needs and desires, so that they can feel more grounded, integrated, and at ease.

My approach to therapy is integrative, and I consider the whole person--mind, body, and spirit. While we will talk through what is bothering you, I will also encourage you to attend to your body's signals, in order to help calm your mind. We will also explore how the events of your past have contributed to your current life challenges. Doing so can bring greater awareness to your current situation and can help identify changes you can make to ensure that your past does not dictate your future.

Helping people move toward a more compassionate acceptance of themselves is also a passion of mine. I know that people are capable of change, because I have witnessed it. I would love to witness you change, and I welcome the opportunity to do so.

More Info About My Practice

My practice is located on Farragut Square, right next to the Farragut North metro station, and one block from Farragut West. Several bus lines also stop on the block. I am happy to answer any questions you have about therapy or about working with me as your therapist. I function as an out of network therapist with most insurance plans, and I am happy to submit your insurance reimbursement paperwork for you electronically, saving you the time and hassle of doing so. Feel free to call or e-mail me with questions or to schedule an appointment. As I am often in session throughout the day, e-mail typically works best for making initial contact.

How Psychotherapy Can Help

Psychotherapy is a powerful tool that can help you gain insight into your emotions, relationship or behavior patterns, and motivations. Gaining awareness of why you do the things you do can help you determine how to change your behavior. Practicing new habits and new ways of thinking about your life can also help you move forward in a new direction. I love collaborating with clients as they go through this process, and it is so rewarding to see someone learn to grow and change. I believe that seeking therapy is one of the kindest things you can do for yourself, and I acknowledge your courage to do so.
