My Approach to Helping
I specialize in anxiety, trauma, life transitions, and prenatal-postpartum mental health.
As a Latina therapist and first-generation American, I'm sensitive to the unique challenges that Latines and children of immigrants face. I offer bilingual Spanish-English sessions to clients whose primary language is English.
I received postgraduate psychotherapy training from the National Institute for the Psychotherapies and perinatal mental health training from Postpartum Support International. I'm also a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (trauma therapist), designated by the International Association of Trauma Professionals.
I'm accepting new clients and offer in-person therapy as well as teletherapy. New clients can often be seen within 2-3 days.
At DC Talk Therapy, all 11 of our therapists specialize in working with young adults (20s and 30s) with anxiety, depression and relationship problems. We offer individual counseling and group therapy. (We're currently running an ongoing Young Adult Anxiety Group for those age 27-35.)
We have two therapists who specialize in trauma and who use use EMDR (eye movement desensitization and reprocessing). EMDR is known for lowering distressing symptoms of trauma in their patients. We also have a substance abuse specialist, an OCD specialist and a therapist who almost exclusively works with the LGBTQ community.
Since we opened our practice in Washington, D.C., in 2012, we've helped nearly 2,000 people live happier and more fulfilling lives. Our therapists use a variety of therapeutic approaches but primarily use cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT). CBT focuses on modifying maladaptive or distorted thoughts about ourselves or the rest of the world as a way to change resulting feelings and behavior.
Our therapists believe that psychotherapy can be tremendously rewarding, even life-changing. We see therapy as very much a collaborative process, so we ask clients for feedback throughout the process. We want the client's experience to be as valuable as possible.
Some of our therapists offer in-person sessions. All of our D.C. therapists offer teletherapy on secure, confidential and easy-to-use video platforms such as Zoom and Doxy.
We offer daytime and evening appointments. Our office staff will call your insurance company on your behalf to determine your benefits.
Our office staff answers the phone live Monday through Friday 9 am-5 pm and they can often schedule you an appointment within 2-3 business days.
