My Approach to Helping
I act as a guide to ensure my clients learn immediate skills to manage distress more effectively while providing a more in depth exploration of your life narrative. You will begin to understand the lens in which you view the world, your core beliefs and your strengths. I believe that witnessing another person's story is a sacred honor. Through skill teaching and practice you will develop insight into underlying factors contributing to your current distress. Through a nonjudgemental approach you will begin to develop self-compassion and enhance insight into circular patterns that contribute to current distress. Through therapeutic reflections you will begin to develop a sense of your values and begin to live your life genuinely or true to who you are. You will leave therapy feeling capable to manage and regulate emotions and have a deeper sense of clarity of your unique needs and life patterns.
How Psychotherapy Can Help
Through eye-movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) clients will be able to explore and challenge negative core assumptions about themselves and ultimately change patterns that contribute to shame, guilt and instability in relationships. Through the use of the Internal Family Systems Model clients will begin to understand their personal needs and enhance their ability to self-soothe their fears. Dialectical behavior therapy can be utilized to enhance effective coping and affect management. Emotion focused couple's therapy can be utilized to enhance the couple's insight of their partner's unique needs as a person and in the relationship. This form of therapy can assist couple's with deepening their sense of trust in the relationship while healing wounds and rebuilding understanding.
