My Approach to Helping

If you are unhappy, in emotional pain, feel stuck or struggling with relationships and life, then finding the right therapist is an excellent step toward feeling better. I know from personal experience that a therapist who is highly skilled and deeply caring can make an enormous difference. From your deepest pain, frustration or grief can emerge growth, strength and even joy! I will help you clarify your goals for therapy and then share specific steps you can take right away to meet those goals. I am not the expert on you and your life, nor am I the one who will make decisions about your life - you will. What I will do, however, is listen carefully, , ask clarifying questions, offer my observations, evaluate options with you, and accompany you forward on your journey until you reach your goals!

More Info About My Practice

I am happy to speak with you by phone first to understand why you are seeking help and determine whether I might be of assistance to you. If I do not feel I would be well-suited to help you, I am happy to recommend other excellent colleagues and resources. My first priority is to make sure that you receive the excellent care you seek and deserve!

Specific Issue(s) I'm Skilled at Helping With

My specialty is relationship issues, which can cause great unhappiness, anxiety and pain. When you are dealing with difficult people or the betrayal of trust, I can offer proven ways of coping more effectively. Some couples have a established a cycle of hurt and disappointment stemming from misunderstandings and miscommunication. Together we rebuild understanding, friendship, improve conflict resolution and create emotional safety. We can do this whether you meet with me alone or with your loved ones. I also help individuals who would like to be in a primary relationship find someone compatible through coaching for "traditional" or online dating. You deserve to be in a happy, fulfilling relationship!

My View on the Purpose of Psychotherapy

Deciding to seek therapy can be difficult, but it actually is a sign of great courage and strength, and it shows a healthy desire to feel happy! Therapy can help you achieve emotional health by clearing away obstacles to your happiness. I strongly believe that every person is doing the best that they can at any given moment, and at the same time everyone is capable of making changes that will greatly improve their life!

What I Love about Being a Psychotherapist

I experience great meaning and satisfaction in my work by helping people take control of their own lives, improve their relationships, reduce stress, increase joy and feel better about themselves. Being fully present with you at an important point in your life is a both a gift and a responsibility that I take very seriously.

My Role as a Therapist

My role is not to tell you what to feel, think or do. My role is to help you figure out what you actually feel, what you really think, and what you can do to improve your life immediately!

Importance of the Client-Therapist Alliance

Seeking therapy can be stressful; how do you know that you can trust and confide in someone you don't know? I understand how difficult making that first contact is and that you are reaching out in a time of vulnerability. It is my goal to receive you with respect and compassion, and to non-judgmentally understand your deepest concerns. We will then explore together options and strategies to enable you to move forward toward greater peace and happiness in your life.
