My Approach to Helping
I understand the power of trauma and how it can destroy you, overtaking your mind and your body. It’s a wound that changes a person. Especially if you don’t let it out. It finds a way. The trauma can overpower you and take control. But it doesn’t have to! You can get your power back. You can become “unbroken.”
Your story is a gift that I will honor. Safety and confidentiality are sacred to me. I’m a down to earth therapist that will listen to you without judgment, and together we will find your healing path. You may never be who you once were before the trauma, but by sharing your story and learning tools to decrease the disturbing memories and pain, you can become whole.
Anxiety, depression, and other post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) symptoms can indeed alter a person’s life path.
I practice:
A Person-Centered approach.
Basic Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), a therapy that enables people to heal from the symptoms and emotional distress that are the result of disturbing life experiences.
A holistic treatment that focuses on the relationship between the mind and body and one’s psychological past called Somatic therapy.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a treatment that helps such problems as depression, anxiety disorders, alcohol, and drug abuse, marital problems, eating disorders, and severe mental illness.
Animal therapy, which can reduce anxiety, grief, and isolation.
