Like many of the people I meet in my practice, you may be feeling powerless, frustrated, overwhelmed or out of control of your life. You may have forgotten who you are inside, feel misunderstood by those around you or feel unable to make decisions or take action to create change. From our very first meeting, you will feel more hopeful, more engaged, and more empowered. Making the initial appointment is an excellent first step; together we will keep the momentum going.

I specialize in Equine-Assisted Psychotherapy (EAP); my approach to using horses in my practice is based on ethology, the study of how survival in the wild has shaped the behavior and physiology of animals. The same instincts and adaptations that keep wild horses alive on a daily basis offer valuable lessons regarding communication, relationships, and personal responsibility. Hands-on, thought-provoking EAP activities engage your body, your mind and your senses, inspiring and supporting creativity, self-confidence and resiliency. You will leave each meeting, including our first, with concrete, strength-based skills you can put to use immediately, keeping that positive momentum going strong. For more information about equine ethology and the benefits of EAP, visit my website.

On the Fence About Going to Therapy?

People are uncertain about starting therapy for any number of reasons. You may be intimidated by the traditional office setting, worried about the stigma associated with counseling or discouraged by the thought of having to rehash all the difficulties in your life without experiencing relief any time soon. On the other hand, you may worry that Equine-Assisted Psychotherapy isn't really going to help because it doesn't seem like a "real" form of therapy. Rest assured, I am a licensed professional counselor with years of experience in many types of traditional therapeutic settings; I simply work outside now. My experience has made it clear that, for me, EAP is the best approach to helping my clients reach their therapeutic goals.
