My speciality is working with kids, adolescents and families. Every family encounters struggle. Living problems are common, however, those who seek solutions are less common. Those who pursue therapy are the most-well because they are humble enough to seek solutions. Together, we can make solutions possible. Historically, I have helped people with marital problems, ADHD, Anger, Depression, Anxiety, Bullying and Divorce.

When I was a child, I found an old desk and used it play school with my siblings. Working with children was implanted on my heart when I was young. In the time that has passed, my techniques have become more refined, but the love of the work has remained constant. Being invited by families to help facilitate change is a gift. The focus is on the present moment, and we reference the past as it informs behaviors in the present. We set goals, and work together to achieve those goals. My approach is systems oriented, so any person from the family who wants to participate may be invited to join. In addition, I use solution-based, brief therapy, in order to influence the greatest change in the shortest amount of time.

Using the primary setting to conduct therapy, like the home, can benefit children ages 0-4 because it is easiest to transfer skills in the main environment. However, for older children, and adults, the office setting is usually preferred. We work out of my office in Oak Brook, IL.

More Info About My Practice

Individual/Family Counseling:

The half hour initial phone consultation is free of charge. Within that time, we will identify a brief history of the concern. Most family symptoms lessen after ten sessions and feel confident to lessen their visits to bi-weekly after fifteen, 50-minutes therapy sessions.

Individual therapy is $130.00 per session, Family therapy is $160.00 per session.

Specific Issue(s) I'm Skilled at Helping With

When working with kids, I use psycho-educational approaches to therapy. The curriculums introduce, teach and reinforce skills that address the presenting problem. On my website, you can learn more about all the different modalities and how they work with specific client concerns.

What I Love about Being a Psychotherapist

Working with children is a joy. In 13 years, children continue to be the population who bring life to my work. I had a calling when I was young to work with children, and my concentration on child/adolescents issues has only grown over time. Now, having 4 children of my own, I can fully appreciate the challenges and triumphs of raising strong, resilient children in the 20th century.
