It is said that life is difficult and at times more so than others. I appreciate every person's unique journey that has made them who they are. I appreciate how it is necessary to find new, more effective ways or support to manage these challenges or move or work around them when the old ways are no longer working or something hurtful seems to hit out of no where. Sometimes the greatest sense of support has been lost or the desire to not burden those closest with the problem and finding a way forward alone is difficult. Sometimes there's just a feeling of being stuck and a sense it is time to reinvent oneself. No matter what challenge, my focus is empathetically listening and exploring new ways to reduce the distress and sadness. I see both men and women individually and I also work with couples.

For individuals new to therapy or returning to the process to further develop themselves, we'll work together in a compassionate and confidentially-safe place. Through whatever life transition or challenge, you'll have in me an unbiased advocate who is committed to your best interest.

For couples in any stage of their relationship--whether it's preventative maintenance to further develop connection and intimacy or working towards enhancing communication and conflict-resolution skills to develop stronger physical and emotional bonds--I'll partner with the both of you to be heard and your perspectives more fully understood and respected. Using Gottman and Emotionally-Focused Therapy (EFT) methodologies, the health of the relationship between the two of you is the priority. In cases where your partner may not be initially open to coming to counseling, please know that individual marital therapy or simply individual therapy for greater clarity and support is an option. There is much an ease in communicating more clearly and confidently to establish closer relationships with oneself and others.

More Info About My Practice

Conscious Counseling & Coaching is a small, solo practice that synthesizes my previous corporate business experience with years as a non-profit trauma counselor, a solution-focused Employee Assistance Program (EAP) counselor and a therapist in a group practice.

Committed to overall health and well-being, daytime, evening and Saturday availability is offered. I respond personally to each email and phone call and invite you to a free initial phone consultation to discuss your goals and answer any questions you may have about my approach or the process.

What I Love about Being a Psychotherapist

I feel grateful to join each person for part of their own unique journey and am appreciative in their joining me for a part of mine. I continue to learn and keep up-to-date with new techniques that challenge my own growth and provide resources to offer others. Tailoring tools specific to each person's goal, I enjoy compassionately exploring and unpacking areas that cause stress while looking at the big picture and puzzling out pieces into smaller, more manageable solutions.

What Makes up a Problem?

Problems consist of outside influences and/or conflicting emotions. When one says there's a part of me that wants "X" and a part of me that wants "Y," that can cause substantial internal struggle and result in great pressure and frustration. We work on seeing where previous learning may have lead you out of alignment with who you are. Together, we will look towards establishing more authentic and meaningful connections as thoughts and behaviors are readjusted through mindfulness and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). As a result, each problem or difficulty has a pathway around, over or effectively and capably through it.
