My Approach to Helping
Dr. Karl Meninger once said, "Love cures people - both the ones who give it and the ones who receive it." This reflects my reasons for becoming a psychotherapist.
Doing my part to develop a "good fit" with everyone I meet is my first priority. This opens the way for building mutual trust and partnering. Within this relational context the work of therapy can begin. Finding a psychotherapist who feels like the "right fit" is an important first step to entering psychotherapy.
My therapy practice is a holistic and integrated model; that is, I integrate traditional psytchotherapy with positive psychology, energy psychology, and spirituality. The people who become clients come with a variety of problems in living. However, anxiety, depression and relationship problems are most prevalent.
At the foundation of my practice philosophy is my perosnal values. Some that I hold dear include, closely evalauating any modality offered to clients. "I first experience a process personally before integrating it into my practice." Also, I believe continuously working on myself through weekly clinical supervision and advanced clinical training helps to keep my approach fresh and expansive."
Also, for times when attending therapy is difficult, i.e. inclement weather, traveling, moving to a new location, sessions using Skype are an alternative. For more information about this. please call me.
More Info About My Practice
Once the process of psychotherapy begins, the love and compassion Dr. Meninger speaks of provides a solid foundation for encountering the players in our internal world, even those we have tried to keep hidden. As the capacity to understand and accept expands, disowned parts feel safe enough to be known. In the process, a deep reservoir of inner beauty and strength becomes apparent, perhaps for the very first time.
I am aware of how blessed I am to be witness to a mysterious process - the unfolding of another human being.
