My Approach to Helping
"In all of life's struggles, there's a gentle voice within, that says, come home, be still and be at peace."
Often the demands, conflicts, fears, losses, disappointments and traumas of life keep us from experiencing that still, peaceful place inside. I have more than sixteen years clinical experience helping people of all ages navigate the most challenging stretches of their journeys. I am committed to working with each client in a respectful, caring and honest manner, viewing myself as both a guide and a witness to the sacred path of growth and struggle in the human experience. One of my goals is to help clients open doors to new possibilities in their lives.
Research over the years has shown conclusively that psychotherapy is effective. Recent research has given us new information about what specific factors play the most important role in the successful outcome of therapy. I have been strongly influenced by the humanistic movement in psychology, believing in the innate goodness and wisdom of human beings. Thus, my approach is more interpersonal and strength-based, than pathologizing and technique-based. I view therapy as a collaborative and creative endeavor that depends on client expectations and involvement as much as it does a competent and compassionate therapist.
