My Approach to Therapy

Hi, my name is Allison. I've been a therapist for thirty years, working with individuals and teens who have experienced trauma. I specialize in attachment, complex developmental trauma, and relationship challenges. I work with individuals who have been exposed to early or chronic trauma, violence, neglect, abandonment, and attachment disruptions. These experiences can create challenging or disabling behavioral patterns affecting the body, heart, and mind. Complex trauma related to grief, loss, neglect, abuse, and abandonment can make individuals or parents feel overwhelmed, easily triggered, and chronically anxious or depressed. Learning effective strategies to create a healing path for your life and journey is always possible. We cannot shame ourselves into change! Seeking help is one of the bravest things we can do for ourselves. Breaking the pattern of intergenerational trauma allows us to become who we were truly meant to be ... our most authentic self.

My Practice & Services

I am a licensed psychotherapist, author, consultant and speaker. My training in attachment theory and the neurobiology of trauma helps address the deeper wounds that are embedded within the body, heart and mind. I believe the safety of the therapeutic relationship allows you to engage in meaningful exploration of the issues that are impacting your wellbeing. I tailor my therapeutic approach to meet your unique needs, culture and life circumstances. I am a clinical member of ATTACh, The Association for Training on Trauma and Attachment in Children (see www.attach.org for my clinical protocols). Parenting a child or teen who has suffered neglect, violence, sexual abuse, abandonment and attachment disruptions requires additional therapeutic parenting knowledge and skills. I specialize in empowering parents with strengths-based tools and interventions to support the strengthening of attachment and trauma resolution.

What I Love about Being a Psychotherapist

I love empowering individuals, couples and families to unleash the healing power they have within themselves. Too often we get stuck inside our own internal narrative of unacknowledged and unhealed grief, loss and trauma. Not being able to repair a rupture within ourselves or our relationships. When we are empowered to explore and understand our deepest needs for connection, trauma-resolution, forgiveness and healing - our most authentic self is revealed.
