My Approach to Helping

I believe that therapy is a collaborative process and finding the "right fit" with a therapist, someone whom you feel you can open up to, feel safe, and trust is essential. I welcome the opportunity to work with you if we are able to make this connection.

I honor your need to take a steady pace, where you will not be forced to share your personal problems too quickly. My goal is to "meet you where you are," get to know you over time and work collaboratively in healing, learning and growing together.

My experience includes working with hundreds of people ranging all ages and stages in life. I treat many professionals, students, parents, mothers or people looking to find direction in life. My education, work experience, patience & understanding come together to help you!

As a free service, I would be happy to verify your specific health coverage and will take care of all related insurance paperwork (Pomco, GHI, Cigna, Cigna Behavioral, United Behavioral Health (UBH), United Healthcare (UHC), Blue Cross Blue Shield (Including Empire), Value Options and Magellan.

Techniques incorporated into the therapy may include:

1. Exploring how your past is affecting your present (Psychodynamic Psychotherapy)

2. Changing problem thoughts and/or unhealthy behaviors and learning new ways to cope (Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy)

3. Learning "acceptance" when you are not in control, how to regulate your emotions so that they don't control you, mindfulness and the practice of being in the "now" (Dialectical Behavioral Therapy)

We will determine which strategies will help elicit the changes you need. My approach is NOT "one size fits all."

Some of the feelings or problems people seek treatment with me for include but are not limited to:
sadness, worry, fear or panic, feeling unsettled, overwhelmed, being unsure what to do, making changes, coping with loss or grief, anger and mood issues, making bad decisions, dealing with behaviors that concern you, coping with stress and more.

Clients have told me I am kind, warm and sincere in my desire to help people. They have shared with me that talking is easier than they initially thought it would be and that they feel comfortable in my office setting.

If you would like to set up an Initial Consultation without making any decision if you want to work with me that is fine.

Please feel free to contact me by phone or by email to learn more about the services I provide, what will happen on the first session or further information about my particular style of conducting therapy.

If you choose to move on, good luck in your continued search.

I wish you well.
