My Approach to Helping
Welcome and congratulations on making the sometimes intimidating choice to seek out counseling. I offer individuals and couples a safe, peaceful space in which to explore, share and sort through events, thoughts and feelings. My therapeutic approach is based on the belief that every person has worth and dignity and the power to reach his or her fullest potential as a human being. I offer short-term counseling or longer-term psychotherapy in an empathic and non-judgmental environment.
Oftentimes people believe that their suffering is caused by something external to themselves and mistakenly embark on a lifelong journey to change others or circumstances beyond their control. The process of therapy allows for becoming aware of one's own belief system and how that affects one's feeling states and ultimately, behavior. Therein lies the power to change - you.
I invite you to begin the process of healing and change with me without blame, shame or judgment. I welcome the opportunity to accompany you on your journey of self discovery to a new life free from suffering.
More Info About My Practice
I offer a free fifteen-minute phone consultation. As I am a fee-for-service provider, my clients pay me directly after each session. I do not go through third party payers or insurance. I would be happy to provide you with a receipt for which you may seek reimbursement. My therapy sessions are 60 minutes in length, not the insurance-based 50-minute "hour." Because I do not go through insurance, I can offer you the highest level of confidentiality possible, subject only to the requirements of state law or by your authorization.
I am available for limited evening and Saturday morning appointments for your convenience. My office is located in Minnetonka conveniently accessible from Highways 7, 169, 494 and 394. Thank you for considering me as your therapist.

If you have experienced verbal, emotional or physical violence growing up or in a current or past relationship, I can help. I have had experience in working with both perpetrators and victims. I have completed domestic violence prevention and advocacy training and have worked with many clients on recovering from the legacy of abuse. Together, we can explore how to regain your sense of independence, self esteem and feel empowered to make healthy decisions in the future.
How Psychotherapy Can Help
If you are wondering what to do next or how to accept a major life change,I would invite you to share your thoughts and feelings. Life is continually changing and sometimes a major shift such as a death, divorce, aging, retirement and so on can cause us to feel unanchored and adrift. Having someone to be with you as you explore your sadness, fear or indecision is comforting and leads to personal empowerment in meeting life's challenges.
