My Approach to Helping
Therapy is empowering individuals to deal with adversities in order to create richer and more fulfilling lives. Clients are helped to explore past experiences that impact current emotions and behaviors. I help clients process emotional issues, shame, and gain a greater understanding of themselves. Through the therapeutic process, we address deep-seated issues so that each client can better direct his or her own life. I have been helping people develop their personal strengths and adjust their ways of relating to others for over 30 years, and have seen clients transform themselves.
The relationship between a therapist and client is central to effectively processing issues and achieving success. I build the relationship through compassionate listening, observation of behaviors, and challenges in a manner that fits for them. I address diverse mental health issues, from depression, anxiety or chemical dependency, to relationship issues and parenting concerns. I have extensive training in therapy frameworks including psychodynamic, family of origin, and cognitive behavioral methods, in order to individualize services. I am knowledgeable about cross-cultural differences and in tune with the skills required to work with people from diverse backgrounds.
