Hello! I imagine if you are reading this now you are beginning your search for a therapist. Finding a good fit in a therapist is important. Reaching out can be a difficult, but an important first step towards change. Most likely right now you are feeling frustrated, stuck, confused and maybe sad, anxious or overwhelmed. You are seeking ways to resolve some type of struggle in your life. This might be from a more present situation or some past situation that hinders your ability to move on in your life. With over 20 years in private practice specializing in working with adults in psychotherapy, I bring experience, expertise and training to my therapeutic approach. While working with you in a therapeutic relationship, I believe what fosters long term change is to begin to understand the relationships you had with the individuals who have had a significant impact in fostering your conscious and unconscious psychological development. As we begin the process of learning and knowing more about you, you may then begin to develop new ways of thinking, feeling, experiencing and making the changes in your life. As we work together, in a therapeutic relationship this may offer you an unique opportunity to give yourself time and space and the support to make the changes in your life that may help you resolve past and present difficulties. My therapeutic approach is to provide a confidential, respectful and empathic therapeutic relationship where you feel understood, listen to and supported to address the concerns and cares you have in our life. Even though you may be experiencing symptoms that are commonly seen such as depression or anxiety, my therapeutic approach is not cookie cutter approach. You are a unique person. There is no one else like you. I believe it is important for us to get to know you, your life story and gain the understanding and knowledge of you so you can know you better and feel more comfortable with yourself.

I try my best to find a time in your schedule and mine within a few days or at most a week for us to get together. In my practice, you may choose to self pay or use insurance. I do work with most insurance companies. I am a direct in network provider for BCBS of MN and generally other BCBS state plans. I also am a direct in network provider for Preferred One, Humana and Life Synch. I generally am able to accept most out of network plans. In terms of payment, I accept payment in cash or check.

I have chosen to specialize in adult psychotherapy because I really enjoy working with adults. I value the opportunity to get to know you and offer support that you may be able to use to make the changes you are hoping for in your life. I treat adults in all different stages of their lives from; the transition from teen years to entering adulthood, beginning, developing and ending relationships, marriage, infertility, parenting, infidelity, divorce, grief and loss, career transitions, mid life crisis, caregiving for elders and aging. Often during these stages we may experience a vast array of feelings including frequent symptoms I treat such as depression, anxiety and obsessive compulsive behaviors. Frequent obsessive compulsive behaviors may be out of control behaviors such as eating, drinking, drug usage, sex and gambling. When these symptoms become overwhelming and inhibit moving successfully through these stages, therapy can be helpful. Symptoms are a way in which are psychological mind is trying to tell us, we need help. Just like you would have pain from a broken leg. You can not ignore this pain because it impedes healing.
