My Approach to Helping

I bring a realistic and direct approach to therapy in which clients are encouraged to take responsibility for their lives, to accept themselves, and to realize their own potential for growth and change. My approach to psychotherapy is rooted in Cognitive and Existential theories with a systemic perspective, which I adapt to the specific needs and personality of each client. In my work in different health care settings, with clients ranging from young children to mature adults, I've learned that much of the stress we experience stems from how we think about the world and the decisions we make. This unmanaged stress or anxiety can prohibit us from living the kind of life we imagine, and sometimes results in symptomatic behavior. My objective as a therapist is to help people reveal and change the hidden rules and ideas that bring about that stress; to show couples how to connect to each other again; to educate children and adolescents that the choices they make today have long reaching effects; and to decrease the burdens and symptoms felt by individuals living in a very complex society. I believe that lasting change is primarily in the hands of the client, not the therapist. As such, I will work with you to create an environment that is geared towards growth, balance and fulfillment.

More Info About My Practice

Deep friendship, real intimacy, a profound sense of mutuality, vibrant communication, common ideals, shared dreams, commitment, and fidelity. These are all attributes which we hope for in marriage or a committed relationship. However, for many new parents sustaining these virtues, can be difficult at best?especially intimacy. I help new parents with the search for answers of how to intimately survive parenthood with a relationship still intact. While each marriage is unique, there are common causes that can be addressed, and proven methods for improving your marriage. I'm a parent myself, and helping couples keep intimacy alive in their relationships is a passion of mine. I bring my own experience and the collective wisdom shared by many new parents of how to successfully maintain intimacy during parenthood.
