My Approach to Helping

The approach that I align myself most closely with is Person Centered Therapy. This approach takes a positive view of individuals, believing that they tend to move toward becoming fully functioning. Person Centered Therapy represents a way of being rather than relying on techniques for doing therapy. Emphasizing caring and understanding rather than diagnosis, advice and persuasion. Therapeutic change can occur if only a few conditions are met. I consider it a privilege to serve you and help you accomplish your goals. I have spent the majority of my professional experience working with a wide variety of students spanning from pre-kindergarten through late adolescence. I draw on experience in both the public and private sector, serving children and adolescents encompassing a wide variety of populations. Some areas of concentration for me have been, special education/emotionally disturbed children, high risk students, grieving children, gifted and talented youth and high achieving, college bound adolescents. I am so grateful for the diversity of my opportunities and experiences. They have continually fueled my passion to help children and adolescents succeed as a result of meeting them exactly where they are at. Counseling and aiding in the discovery of tools to become competent and confident individuals is such a privilege. With that said, effective counseling results from mutual work between the client and the counselor, in a spirit of respect, and with the common goal of improvement of your symptoms. Although there are no guarentees, growth and progress usually do occur with patience and perserverence.
