My Approach to Helping
I am a national-board-certified, licensed clinical mental health counselor. I work with individuals, couples, and families, meeting my clients where they are in life, to best meet their needs.
In all counseling settings, I first help clients hear the inner messages that often lead to inner confusion and conflict. Once heard, I support clients in honoring the inner messages that they come to know are truly best for them, rather than taking actions to please others. I work with clients to untangle the thoughts, actions, beliefs, and feelings so that they can move their lives in the direction that leads to peace and joy.
In couples counseling, I want each partner to have the ability to be themselves and to let go of the need to control their partner. When there is already a break, which often is what brings the couple to counseling, I work with the couple to help each partner accept and move beyond past pain, build and fortify boundaries, and rebuild the promises of trust.
Boundaries are the guiding lines that help us remain true to ourselves and also know our obligations to each other. In families, lacking expressed boundaries, day to day living becomes stressed and confused. My goal is to guide families in establishing boundaries along a collective path to healing and function.
I support all my clients in learning from challenges, healing from pain, and moving forward to a more fulfilling and complete life.
