My Approach to Helping
Are you seeking a space to share the ups and downs of your life with someone that you feel can be your ally? Daily life can be difficult when you keep bumping against similar challenges and conversations.
Therapy with me can be a space to express the difficult emotions and vent, learn strategies to communicate more effectively with others, and have time carved out to show up as you are.
My role is an authentic and supportive ally who you meet with weekly to discover your true self. I make room for the uncomfortable emotions, draw upon your "inner warrior", and explore your inner dialogue that may be serving or diminishing your self worth. I utilize primarily talk therapy, creative arts, humor, and game play depending on your needs.
More Info About My Practice
I meet with clients 1-2 times a week and hold the space for you weekly unless pre-arranged.I offer a free 20 minute phone consultation to explore whether we may be a good fit and answer any questions that you may have. I do not currently take insurance though can provide you with documentation of services for you to submit.
My View on the Purpose of Psychotherapy
The purpose of therapy is to have an opportunity to bring your full self into the room and be accepted as you are in addition to exploring opportunities for growth. The therapeutic relationship and trust that is built over time can create a catalyst for change.
What I Love about Being a Psychotherapist
I love being in a role where I connect heart to heart with clients and have the opportunity to join them on their journey to finding inner peace. The ability to be creative and humorous in session with clients allows for authentic connection.
Being a therapist brings me joy and fulfillment in my life both professionally and personally.
How My Own Struggles Made Me a Better Therapist
My relationship with therapy has been one filled with insights, confusion, anger, humor, compassion, and a whole mix of emotions. My own experience in therapy has fueled my value and passion for my role as a therapist and increased empathy for clients I work with.
What I Say to People Concerned about the Therapy Process
On the fence about starting therapy? This is a normal to feel and is a commitment in more ways than one. You are worth this time and commitment.
It takes time to feel comfortable and find a good fit. I would encourage you to give it a try a few sessions and see how it goes. Communicate what you like and don't like in therapy early on so you get what you need out of it. It can bring up a lot and also can be a time to release feelings that may be getting in your way of everyday life : relationships, work, school, and roles you play in your life.
