My Approach to Helping
My practice specializes in providing psychotherapy to individual adults and couples. I have experience in treating numerous psychological disorders and supporting patients through difficult times, conflictual relationships, and troubling emotions. Along with the general areas of psychology, I specialize in the treatment of trauma. I have worked as a trauma researcher for ten years at the U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs, Stanford University, and Palo Alto University, publishing a book chapter on personality disorders and presenting at trauma conferences across the U.S. and Canada.
I help individuals build self-awareness and an understanding of factors that are contributing to their difficulties. Individuals develop patterns throughout their lives that have been helpful and adaptive at one point. As our environments change and we develop, we may need to reconsider some of these patterns.
I compassionately and patiently work with individuals at a pace that is safe for them. Services are provided in English and Cantonese. Meetings are in person at my Berkeley office and available online tele-mental health through secure and HIPPA compliant video sessions. I also provide low fee service to students from the University of California Berkeley and surrounding schools.
