My Approach to Helping
I offer a unique type of therapy called Walk Talk Therapy. With this approach, we walk together outside rather than sitting in an office. My clients find this process more relaxing, and some even find that it helps them begin a fitness routine or create a more active lifestyle. Walking and talking can also be meditative, and this approach encourages healthy activity for teens and adults. Research shows that exercise can reduce symptoms of anxiety and depression and improve mood. In short, exercise improves your physical and mental health. Several other reasons Walk Talk Therapy is a good approach include:
1. It gets clients moving, both figuratively and literally.
2. Being in nature can be soothing.
3. Clients experiencing anxiety, loss, grief, and other challenges all respond well to Walk Talk Therapy.
Physical activity can reduce depression and anxiety.

I do not accept insurance. It is recommended that you check with your insurance carrier to determine if our services would be covered under Out of Network Benefits. Your counseling services may be eligible for reimbursement through medical spending or health care savings accounts. If the weather prohibits us from walking outdoors, you have the option to walk at an indoor mall, Lifetime Fitness track, or Skype.

I want you to feel better as quickly as possible and I feel this is best accomplished using a blend of cognitive and behavioral therapy also known as CBT. CBT is a therapy approach that helps people change unhealthy thoughts, emotions, and beliefs. CBT focuses on the here and now with directive guidance. CBT is a researched treatment that has been shown to be effective with a variety of diagnoses.
Many clients tell me they have seen other therapists and they've done a lot of talking about their problems and the problems remain. Some people come to me for help getting over a rough patch while others see me when their situation is more urgent. Either way or anything in between, we will find out what's working and not working in your life and learn new ways to handle your concerns.
Think of me as your coach providing you encouragement and problem solving. You will find me compassionate, easy to talk to, and non judgmental. I am walking next to you encouraging you while you take our ideas and practice them outside of our sessions.
