My Approach to Helping
My approach to counseling is pretty simple. I believe that the client is the expert on their own life. I see myself more of a mental and emotional guide who believes in the your ability to heal yourself if given a solid foundation. Many people just need someone who is unbiased, a good listener and able to provide skills or point out "blind-spots" in their life. I feel no one is perfect, including myself, so I will not pretend to know all the answers. I feel the counseling relationship is the vehicle to change, insight and creativity. I also like to use mindfulness, humor, "straight talk", art therapy and bibliotherapy to challenge my clients.
More Info About My Practice
Currently, I accept cash, Paypal, debitcredit cards but I am unable to take insurance at this time. A 50 minute session is $75 and 1 hr 20 min session is $90. The longer session is great for EMDR sessions, couples and families who wish to spend more time in their sessions. It is also possible to come in twice a week if you feel you need additional time. What I Love about Being a Psychotherapist
There are many aspects of counseling that I love but I mostly love the challenge of dealing with unique clients and feeling like I am helping them to find their path in life. No two clients are the same and I try to tailor my practice in such a way that each person is treated according to their individual needs. I think my favorite part of counseling is connecting with my clients on a very personal level. I try to provide a safe and non-judgmental space in which my clients know they are safe with me.
Why Going to Therapy Does Not Mean You are Weak or Flawed
Many people who are thinking about going to counseling for the first time feel like they are admitting failure or weakness. But the truth is, picking up that phone and making the choice to attend therapy is very brave and you are deserving of it. Spending one hour on your mental and emotional help could be life-changing for you if you give it a chance. If you are still unsure, you can request to have a consultation session in which we can meet and I can answer your questions.
