My Approach to Helping
Maya Angelou- “We delight in the beauty of the butterfly but rarely admit the changes it has gone through to achieve that beauty." It is human nature to at times be in awe of others but we never know what that person has gone through to reach that point in their life. If we seek to reach our own “beauties” (I.e. goals), we must be prepared and willing to put in the work to achieve such things.
I believe knowledge of mental Heath needs to increase and more community-based approaches should be implemented in schools or just everyday environments. This will help normalize that mental health concerns happen and there’s nothing wrong with a person needing a mental health day or further help. I also have strong opinions that mental health should be more affordable for all.
During our first session, we will make time to briefly discuss what your therapeutic goals are. I will ask you to take some time prior to our next session to specify those goals and we will explore your reflection during the second or third session if more time is needed. By our third or fourth session, we can begin working together to start to tackle those goals one step at a time.
