My Approach to Helping
Life can be difficult and challenging. At Collinwood Counseling we believe that no one has to face their challenges alone.
I have been a clinical social worker in a variety of settings since the 1970s.
I've worked with clients at a counseling center, a school, an employee assistance company, and in a community mental health agency. My work has taught me the nuts and bolts of chemical dependency, and provided me with a range of treatment resources on the journey to acceptance of a mental health diagnosis.
For 25 years I worked as a Medical Social Worker, first with the general hospital population, then on a Bone Marrow Transplant unit for over 5 years and finally in outpatient dialysis for 17 years. I understand the realities of receiving a devastating diagnosis, coping with difficult medical treatments and living with chronic illness.
I especially welcome individuals who are dealing with sexual identity issues, and are learning self love and self acceptance.
My goal for all clients is to build strengths and to find the skills to live life knowing that there is always a path through transitions and challenges therefore achieving the ability to be fully alive.
