My Approach to Helping
"Loving ourselves through the process of owning our story is the bravest thing we'll ever do." -B. Brown
People can heal from trauma. Trauma innately connects all human beings. But too often we minimize or normalize its impact on our lives. The effects of trauma can show themselves in so many different ways: perfectionism, relationship struggles, anger, chronic pain, addictions, people pleasing, shame, insecurity. Maybe these resonate with you.
When people decide to get curious about how the wounding moments in their lives have impacted their self-worth, self-esteem, and overall worldview- healing can occur. You deserve to heal. And you deserve support through this process. It's of upmost importance that you feel seen, heard, and valued for the truly worthy and deserving person that you are. You can borrow the compassion I give you while learning to give yourself some grace and compassion of your own.
More Info About My Practice
I specialize in treating trauma and all of trauma's unhelpful symptoms: PTSD, anxiety, nightmares, stress, military, sexual, childhood trauma, and grief. I help people let go of shame.
I specialize in serving children, adults and combat veterans. I also have expertise serving people with complex, chronic medical conditions. Caregivers- you need more support than you get. If you are unable to verbalize- that's ok. You don't necessarily need to talk about it to heal it. If you are a person who has difficulty trusting others, who finds it difficult to have meaningful relationships although you desire them, and possibly were labeled with a personality disorder in the past- I would like to work with you.
I use methods beyond traditional talk therapy. If you've found limited symptom relief from talk therapy, I encourage you to consider something new. I use EMDR therapy, mindfulness-based and compassion-focused CBT, Expressive Arts, Cognitive Processing Therapy, Narrative approaches, IFS-informed methods, and Usui Reiki. I incorporate body-based healing approaches in my work. Stress, trauma, emotional suppression and avoidance literally affects our brain and body on a cellular level.
Importance of the Client-Therapist Alliance
"Meeting people where they are at, treating them like human beings, and not trying to change them, actually opens up the possibility of transformation for them." -Mate-
Clients often tell me that they leave their session feeling something different; something just a little bit better than when they arrived. They tell me they feel curious about what's ahead. They also tell me that I don't forget anything. You made the choice to give me your valuable time and courage, I can give you my full presence and curiosity.
I strive to extend empathy, invite open expression and cultivate a sense of connection and safety for every person that I meet. It truly is an honor when people invite me into their world and give themselves permission to be courageously vulnerable. I would be honored to help discover what healing looks like for you, should you choose to know longer travel that path alone. You were never meant to do this all alone.
