My Approach to Helping

I have been working with clients for nearly 20 years. I specialize in working with individuals who are striving to overcome situations that have them feeling overwhelmed. This sometimes shows up in the form of anxiety or feeling out of control. Or, feeling deeply sad, lonely and unmotivated. Often, these things can deeply affect relationships and communication skills. My work focuses on creating tools to handle the situations in the moment and the empowerment to move forward.

I work from a client centered approach, which means that my work is all about my client. I meet my clients where they are and then we work together to discover what things are keeping them stuck in patterns that are not serving them in their lives. We work together to develop coping techniques and strategies to handle situations that are currently holding them back. We develop skills and tools that sustain the changes that they want in their lives moving forward. Together we work to create lasting change.

I provide a safe space that encourages trust building and communication.

More Info About My Practice

I understand that it takes courage to make change. I approach my clients from a place of deep respect and empathy. I understand that when I am seeing clients they are seeking support and real change. I work collaboratively with clients to address their individual circumstances. Therapy is an opportunity to change the things that are not working , and also, to build new strategies for coping and managing situations. We work together to what goals my client has come to therapy to achieve. We continue to asses and re-asses the goals as we move through the therapeutic process.

My Role as a Therapist

I believe that there are times in everyone's lives in which we can benefit from support. Therapy is a different type of support than friends and family. My job is to provide a safe space in which you get to unpack all the things that are contributing to what is concerning you. I have no judgement on what is happening for you and I work with you to find the answers, build skills and create lasting change that works for you. It is not my role to provide answers for you, rather it is for us to work on uncovering your solutions together.
