My Approach to Therapy

I have specialized for over 20 years in helping smart, successful men understand why their most important relationships are so difficult and then help them to move forward feeling more oriented, confident and secure. I bring my professional and personal experience to the table. I'm a daughter, a wife and the mom of a son. I bring my compassion, genuine care along with straightforward (but kind!) honest feedback designed to help you grow. I'll ask you to dig deep and explore new territory but we will also keep an eye on simple, practical tools that can help now.

My Practice & Services

Therapy for Mid-Life Transitions is my second area of specialization. There are few things in life we can be sure of, but one of them is change. Our lives are always changing whether we want them to or not. With change, even "good change" brings loss. We all experience big and small losses throughout our lives. The break up of an important relationship, a parents divorce or departure, a betrayal (loss of trust), illness or injury, the death of a loved one. Loss is inevitable and requires grieving. Grieving (even small losses) moves us through to the other side and into the light again. If we are unable to truly grieve our losses, we are stuck in the dark, somewhere inside. So much of what I try to help people with is to know more about how they truly feel so they can grieve old losses and move forward.

Groups I Work With

I specialize in working with smart, successful men who are feeling at a loss with how to fix their important relationships. Maybe you and your partner have been struggling for years, having the same old, painful, dead-end arguments. She's mad at you all the time but you don't know how to make sense of what she needs from you and how to (or how to figure out if you should) change. Likely you are on the verge of a divorce or break up or standing in the ruins of a lost relationship feeling alone and confused. Maybe you are looking to find a (new) life partner but you don't want to make the same mistakes twice. I can help you get to the bottom of these perplexing dynamics and get moving forward with more understanding and confidence. I also have extensive experience in working with women and men who are facing the ever changing (sometimes frightening) landscape of midlife. Mid-life is a transitional time full of loss, change and navigating new territory. I work with people who are struggling with these changes (aging, health, divorce, loss of loved ones, parenting, caring for aging parents, work related stressors). I can help you create a map for this unexplored territory so you can move forward feeling more hopeful about the "second season" of your life.
