My Approach to Helping
My almost 30 years experience working primarily with children, adolescents, and families define my approach. I worked for several years at NY Hospital Cornell inpatient with renowned psychiatrists in the field of child and adolescent psychiatry. I learned different approaches and philosophies that I utilize in my private practice. In order to achieve the most successful outcomes, you must utilize what works best for every child and family. In using one approach, a therapist limits their success rate. I additionally have worked full-time as a school counselor for about 15 years. I work with children, adolescents. teachers, and parents every day. I see a great many kids and know all the issues occurring at school first hand. I know how to direct parents with school issues, and have they can get appropriate services for their children. My number one strength is that I easily connect with children and adolescents. I can relate to them and have never had a kid not want to continue working with me. My office is warm and friendly and humor is my best friend especially with adolescents. I offer experience, warmth, and me. I am available outside of sessions and my families can call me anytime and always get a return call. I am devoted to helping my clients become more successful today, tomorrow, and in the future. It is difficult being a child or adolescent in the world we now live in. We offer a safe environment and a place where kids can be heard and know that what they say matters. Sometimes as parents we wait and hope things will get better, sometimes they do, but quite often things escalate and it then takes longer to make the changes necessary to be successful emotionally and academically. Let us help you help your family.
