My Approach to Helping
I help teens who are struggling with difficult relationships, self-esteem, anxiety, disordered eating, substance use, or self-harm discover what they need to meet their challenges successfully. I help shy, quiet or introverted children, teens and adults embrace their unique qualities and learn how to work with them. I also work with people in early and long-term recovery from substance use and eating disorders as they continue to grow by cultivating balance, investing in life passions, and improving relationship skills.
For those open to it, I use art as another language in therapy, which helps to express feelings too confusing or complex to articulate in words. I use a humanistic therapeutic style and integrative techniques to help people express things they've been holding in, understand their inner worlds, and move toward their goals.
I am at ease talking about topics that sometimes feel shameful. I embrace individuality and welcome discussion of race, ethnicity, gender, sexuality, religion, spirituality, and social systems. I invite you to reach out and I look forward to connecting with you.
