My Approach to Helping
The fear of uncertainty is often too difficult to accept and live with. While each person struggles to navigate these endless challenges posed from the recent pandemic, it is my goal and mission to help you find your way back to what is familiar. I am a licensed marriage and family therapist in the States of Texas and Georgia, and I currently work with individuals, couples and families. I have 15 years of clinical experience treating most mental health conditions that are common in mental health. Of these mental health conditions, I have success in treating anxiety disorders; depression; bi-polar; mood disorders; addictions; personality disorders (ex. dissociative identity disorder); post-traumatic stress disorder; communication deficits; attention-deficit hyperactive disorder; obsessive-compulsive disorder; infidelity and marital discord; lifestyle changes (ex. Retirement); military family distress; helping teens find the answers that they are searching for; and many other mental health conditions and situations that come into my door.
My therapy approach consists of having several modalities that are used to treat specific disorders and conditions that are more effective than others. For example, CBT or Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is a modality that I use very often due to its effectiveness in improving anxiety, depression, insomnia, and most other disorders. I blend other modalities in treatment as needed depending on what goals we are working on within the treatment plan. In couples therapy, I tend to lean on Emotionally focused Therapy andor interventions and principles used in Gottman Theory. When I work with families, I usually use modalities and interventions found within Bowenian Family Theory, Structural Family Therapy and Strategic Family Therapy. In summary, I have knowledge and experience working with many modalities but have certain ones that are considered my “go to” methods.
I am also a 10-year Navy Veteran having served in multiple deployments during Operation Enduring Iraqi Freedom. With my various experiences from the military and traveling abroad, I have a profound appreciation for individuals from all cultures and backgrounds. I put the safety of my patient first above everything else and focus on finding solutions to each problem or concern that I am challenged with. It is the therapy relationship and the bond that is formed in the therapy experience that provides the foundation for lasting change in a patient’s life. I want to walk with you in collaboration to a better place that leads to healing and hope. Are you ready to take that journey as well?
