My Approach to Helping

Visit my website using the link at the bottom right of this page.
Call me at (510) 788-0006 instead of the GoodTherapy number at the top of this page.

Just as the body wants to naturally heal itself, it's my belief that we all have within us a drive towards mental health and wholeness. My approach to working with you is tailored to your individual needs and goals but is always in support of this natural healing process. My priority as a therapist is to help you discover and use the strengths you already possess to support you in making a change so that you can live a deeply satisfying, authentic life.

In my collaboration with you, I will likely incorporate some mix of talk therapy, mindfulness, somatic awareness, narrative techniques, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR).

More Info About My Practice

I continually strive for cultural competence and I am LGBTQI affirmative. I have experience working with alternative relationships including polyamorous and open-relationships.

How Psychotherapy Can Help

Psychotherapy provides you the opportunity to make some sense of your life, to better understand how you got where you are. Refining this perspective on your "life story so far" helps you figure out how to best move forward.

Psychotherapy supports you in identifying unhelpful patterns of behavior. Knowing your patterns allows you to figure out how to change them.

Psychotherapy can help you to realize that, as uncomfortable as your problems feel, you are not the first to struggle with similar issues, they are not actually as hopeless as you think, and they can be improved with support and effort.
