My Approach to Helping

Relationships are the fabric of our lives, but they can be so hard!
It doesn't have to be so hard, though. For 29 years I've been helping couples using my guidance, support, insight, humor, and compassion.
There's a lot that can challenge a relationship. If any of the following seem familiar, it's a good time for us to talk.

- Communication problems
- Constant conflicts
- Difficulty in connecting
- Cross-cultural, interracial, inter-religion
- Infidelity
- Difficulty in adapting to being new parents
- Lack of boundaries
- A growing distance between you
- Sexual orientation issues
- Not knowing how to get your needs met
- A sense of boredom
- Feeling lonely when together
Sexuallyintimately disconnected

These are all problems that can be worked through in couples therapy. I can help you to get your relationship back on track and give you greater insight into yourself and your partner.

More Info About My Practice

I find couples therapy to be very rewarding. Couples come in usually in pain, confusion and fear, but after they engage fully in the work they are so much happier. Which makes me happy, too!

My Role as a Therapist

Sometimes people come to couples counseling expecting (sometimes not quite consciously) the therapist to be a kind of judge. As a therapist my job is not to blame either partner or to judge. It is to be there to facilitate mutual empathy and understanding and to actually stop the blaming. I also function as a guide or a teacher, facilitating communication between the two people and occasionally giving "homework" (if the couple wants it).
